What
is a "Virtual Terminal?" |
A
"virtual terminal" is an online credit card processing system
that allows you to manually authorize, process and charge a customer's
credit card using any computer in the world, as long as it's linked
to the Internet.

It sounds simple enough, but learning how to use a "virtual terminal"
is a completely different matter. This is why I created video tutorials
about virtual terminals.
|
 |
How
do you get a "Virtual Terminal?" |
First,
you have to apply online for a merchant
account (below) through my company, MyPaymentServices.com.
Once you are approved, you will have your own virtual terminal assigned
to your merchant account. This will allow you to process credit cards
online when you need to, in addition to other merchant processing tasks
associated with having a merchant account. If you already have a merchant
account, you can login using the Log Into Your Account link provided below.

— Address
Verification / Restrictions |
The Address
Verification Service (AVS) is a tool designed by bankcard processors
to assist in identifying potentially fraudulent credit card transactions. For every credit card authorization, AVS compares the billing address
and ZIP code provided by the customer at the time of purchase, to the
address and ZIP code on file at the card issuing bank.
AVS then
returns a response code indicating the results of the comparison. Here's
how to customize the AVS segment of your merchant account so you don't
fall victim to those committing fraud around the globe when they try
to test to see if the credit cards (stolen and in their possession)
are good through your website shopping cart.

If you

transaction is held for review, we recommend you take action to approve

you should monitor or review your processing trends over several weeks
to help you determine a typical per-day high.

you wanted to charge a client's credit card for any number of consecutive

Recurring
billing works well if you want to charge a customer's credit card on
a regular "recurring basis" automatically (e.g.., monthly,
quarterly, annually) or offer payment options for large ticket items
(e.g., three easy payments of $250 per month). It's a great feature
provided by your virtual terminal. Here's how to set up a client for
recurring billing.
