Why upload your videos to YouTube?

Do you need more exposure for your books, workshops, speaking engagements, products, services or personal messages? YouTube.com is the absolute best site to post video of your products and services online for all to see, worldwide.

For starters, YouTube.com is one of the biggest online video sharing websites there is. Uploading videos to YouTube is just the beginning to uploading your video content all over the web. Of course, there are hundreds of other video-sharing websites online, but no video-sharing web site gets more publicity on television or the radio than YouTube.com.

Further , if you've never uploaded video to the web before, start here. YouTube.com is the best place to learn how this is done. All the other video-sharing sites can follow after you learn how to upload video to YouTube, first.

What kind of videos can/should you upload to YouTube?

That's up to you? What's your specialty? What do you do? What do you sell? How can you help people? How can you entertain people? What do you have to say? We're listening ... and, watching! Here's a list of the types of videos you can upload to your personal account at YouTube.com:

VIDEOS about YOU ... What's going on in your world? Tell the world about it in a video and upload it to YouTube!
VIDEOS about PRODUCTS ... Do you sell products? Make infomercials about them and upload them to YouTube!
VIDEOS about SERVICES ... Do you sell a service? Make a video about it, and upload it to YouTube!
VIDEOS about MESSAGES ... Do have a message you want people to hear about? Upload a video about it to YouTube!
VIDEOS about INTERVIEWS ... Do you interview people? Video record your interviews and upload them to YouTube?
VIDEOS about COMMENTARIES ... Would you like to comment on what's going on in the world? Upload it to YouTube!
VIDEOS about REVIEWS ... You could review products, services, movies, etc., and post those videos to YouTube!
VIDEOS about TRAININGS ... Video record your speaking presentations and trainings and upload them to YouTube!
VIDEOS about REPORTS ... Report on anything you're passionate about and upload those videos to YouTube!
VIDEOS about PASSION ... What are you passionate about? Upload those videos to YouTube and entertain the world!

What topics are you considering to make into video(s) to upload to YouTube? Make a list and act on it! Get your name in lights via YouTube.com.

Lastly, here's a tip about selling products and services via videos on YouTube as well as other video-sharing websites ... Don't just make a commercial to "sell" for your product/service. Instead, create an "info"-mercial about your product/service. Educate people about a problem, which you can solve with your product/service. Make your video(s) informative, even entertaining, and don't get in the way of your prospects like "in-your-face" advertising does. Get creative! Most people enjoy buying; few like to be sold!

What kind of video camera do you need to make videos?

Fortunately, you don't need the most expensive video camera on the market to create good video! FREE exposure to millions of people is affordable! All you need is a hand-held digital video camera, a tri-pod and perhaps (optional) a good light or two. More equipment than these basic needs as nice to have, but not required.

You don't need professional skills or training to put yourself on video. At all costs, be yourself! Before you turn the camera on, practice by talking about what it is that you do and the product/service that they need. Remember, high-end and "stiff" videos might cause your prospects to think you're trying (too hard). Then, ask a trusted friend or associate for some constructive feedback from about how your video comes across. You want to appear believable and sincere.

Depending on your budget, two cameras come to mind. My first, and personal favorite, is the Kodak Zi8 Pocket HD Video Camera with external microphone plug-in port. A plus to using this camera is that you can plug in an external lavaliere (or other) microphone right into the camera for better audio recording quality! Check it out ...

Another hand-held camera that comes to mind is the Flip MinoHD Camcorder that records up to 60-minutes of HD-quality video on 4 GB of built-in memory. Features include one-touch recording, digital zoom and a "flip-out" USB arm that plugs right into your computer's USB port to launch its "built-in" FlipShare software. This is a good camera!

Zoom Q3HD Pro Hand Held HDThen, there's the Zoom Q3HD Pro Hand Held HD Video Audio Recorder. Wow, what a beauty, eh? Portable Video and Audio Recorder with 2 Built-in Stereo Microphones, LCD Screen, Onboard Speaker, Editing and Uploading Software, TV and USB Connectors, and 2GB SD Card. When you want to record on the fly - anywhere, you can't beat the Q3HD; it's ready to go when you are. An Auto Level sets recording levels perfectly, so you don't have to fuss with input levels when you're trying to capture footage fast. What's more, the icon-based user interface means easy navigation.

So, which camera do you choose? Determine what your timeline is for recording video? Yesterday? This week? Next week? The point is, if you're in a hurry, go with the camera that's available to you. Some stores run out of stock on these great cameras. Shop around the web, too, and perform searches for these cameras until you find an online store that has the camera you want.

Don't just order the camera online. CALL THEM to check the availability and get all of your questions answered. I did this and it paid off. When you hear them say, "We have that camera in stock," confirm they're talking about the same ITEM# you see on their web site, then place your order, directly, by the telephone.

Once you obtain your camera, practice, practice, practice. Buy a tri-pod at any local electronics store to mount the camera on and practice. Get use to using the camera and being filmed. Try on different outfits to decide what looks best on you when video recording yourself. Practice recording different material again and again.

Get use to seeing yourself (and hearing yourself) in video. Let your friends critique your video recordings. Encourage them to be honest, then work on their suggestions until you're a pro at "delivering your content". This process should last about a week or two, depending on how much time you put into this process.

Following a few weeks of practice and rehearsal, you should be ready to start producing tons of video to upload to YouTube and beyond for the world to see. Remember, you only get one chance to make that first impression. Prepare, practice and rehearse for your big debut. Don't wing it ... no one is that good!

What about video editing software? Do you need it? It depends. The Flip MinoHD Camcorder comes with built-in editing software. If you're serious about adding pictures and messages to your videos, even music, check out these Video Editing Software resource links for my personal recommendations.
