What Kind of Audio Recording Equipment Do You Need To Record Audio?

What kinds of audio recording equipment do you need to record audio? If you want to record your own high quality, studio-sounding audio products from home or office, all you really need is a high-quality USB “desktop” microphone (as seen below, which I have) and an (optional) microphone boom if you wish. These are the basics, and all I use to record the audio for my books and video tutorials.

ITEM #1 (A MUST-HAVE)

ITEM #2 (IF YOU WANT IT)

Some people like having the microphone right next to their mouth, but above the desk so their hands can be free to type or read what they’re recording right in front of them. If you want that, go for it! I’m fine with placing the microphone on the desk between me and my keyboard, because I mostly read from the monitor/screen.
